Value and Texture

Value-the lightness or darkness of a color.
Implied Texture-how something appears to feel relating to the sense of touch. We created implied texture with various pencil strokes such as cross-hatching, stippling, circular, and vertical lines.

"Rule of Thirds"

A line project using the "rule of thirds" to place the focal

Rule of Thirds: Divide a paper in thirds horizontally and vertically, place the focus of the drawing where the lines intersect (the red circles on the diagram). 

Students created a line design using weighted line, pattern, and a focal point (or emphasis). Analogous color blends were added in some areas using Prismacolors.
